Frequently Asked Questions

When are you open?

We are not, ever. The studio is a private space, it is not open to the public at any time. Blind Eye is a private work space focusing primarily on portrait photography and other creative endeavors, we make the space available for various events from time to time but it is not "open" then either. We are merely making the space accessible to guests, it is still a private space even when it is full of people. We expect people to behave as such, like you are guests in someone's home with the same respect you would show a friend you are visiting.

How do I get in?

There is no street entrance to the studio. Clients coming for photography sessions should message to confirm time of arrival then ring the "exit room" bell once you have arrived, we will buzz you in the first set of doors then come get you.

For events you will need to either contact someone who is already inside or ring the "exit room" bell, be aware that sometimes we can't hear the bell depending on circumstance. If there is no response to the bell wait patiently then try again, once you hear a response then the buzzer enter the first set of doors and wait quietly for someone to come get you.

Please respect the comfort of our neighbors by being calm and quiet while moving through common areas in the building both coming and going. It is much appreciated by everyone (especially the neighbors).

How do I become a member?

Many events are limited to members and their friends (with some exceptions for those visiting the city, we welcome you if you let us know a bit about yourself).

If you would like to become a member you will need a "sponsor" from one of the amazing people who are already members, this shouldn't be difficult if you are amazing too. If you do not know anyone who has membership already write us a message telling us who you are and why you would like to have membership (please provide a link to some form of social media as well) and we will approve you on a case by case basis.

Sponsors: Please keep in mind that by sponsoring someone you are telling us they are awesome, you think they are great, and we should accept them for membership.

Members: Please keep in mind that we expect any friends or "plus one, two etc" you bring will treat the space and the people in it as you would. If you don't trust your "friend", don't bring them! If you trust all of your friends, bring EVERYONE!

You are a non-for-profit?

No, most events are non-for-profit. We are a professional photography studio and charge for those services (and others) which may at times (somewhat accidentally) result in a profit.

Can I rent your space for my ____________?

Maybe. The primary work space is not for rent (the main photography work space, lights, cameras, photography gear, etc) however the common area or "big room" as we call it is available to rent for private parties, photography, events, location shooting, band practice, pretty anything the space would be suited for. It has a small service bar, big screen TV, excellent live/DJ sound system, lights, smoke machine, and other various bits that can be available after discussion that might facilitate your needs. Please contact us using the events form and we'll move from there!
